The year 2022 could go down in history as a year full of craziest horror movies ever done And we thought MALIGN in 2021 it was disabled. This year, it seemed that the filmmakers really wanted to make the audience crazy and hit with varied plots, seamless time jumps and crazy character arcs.

On the one hand, you had great success Smile which pretty much followed a familiar formula and that was comfortable. On the other hand, you had the movies below, like Barbaric which, even if you watched the trailer, couldn’t prepare you for what was to come.

If you like this kind of horror, then you’ll probably like the others on this list. These movies lead you to assume one thing, but eventually derail and take you down a completely different path (or two), which gives high meaning to the term “spoiler alert,” since any spoilers should come straight from a another person and not necessarily the trailer.

Warning. There might be some mild spoilers ahead, but we doubt it.

Barbarian (HBO Max)

This is probably the biggest hit on this list. Barbaric was compared to MALIGN on a spiritual level, because it’s so crazy, so fantastic, that audiences were left with their jaws agape as the credits rolled. A common criticism “what we watched” collectively was a common criticism.

Run Sweetheart Run (primary members)

In this movie, what you think you know doesn’t really matter. While this trailer offers a little more than it should, you probably aren’t expecting what you’re expecting. Like a game of Snake.io, the plot shifts and morphs with diabolical vigor. Go in as blind as possible.

Here’s another movie that should have done better at the box office. Bloody, suspenseful, and completely surprising, Significant Other gets high marks for starting out as one thing and ending up as something entirely different. The best feeling in the world is being confident you know where it’s going, then something so crazy happens that you question your ability to ever judge a movie.

Orphan: First Kill (Paramount+)

Oh, so you know the original movie, therefore the gimmick was ruined, so the sequel is just compost. Wrong! First Kill relies on your knowledge of the original, yes, but it uses that as a manipulation to get you almost halfway through this movie. If you don’t let out a “WTF?!” you’re looking at it wrong!

Deadstream (Shudder)

Found footage isn’t dead. Well, inside Deadstream it kind of is, but that might be too mild a spoiler. This movie is so offbeat that it does The Evil Dead looks like The notebook. Those who were not satisfied with 2021 Dashboard room can be quiet because this film not only has an irritating protagonist, but manages to find ways to catch you off guard at every turn.

Honorable Mention:

Halloween is over (Peacock)

As divisive as this movie was, we’ll put it in the honorable mention category because some of the things fans hated about it are pretty much what made it so great. What some people expected to happen from this awkward part of the trilogy, did not happen. In fact, some people said it shouldn’t be called a Halloween movie at all.
