Director Simon McQuoid is set to return to direct The deadly beat continuation. The first movie introduced us to quite a few characters, but in a noisy surface a lot of characters were missing and well… so was The deadly beat tournament. But hopefully we will see the tournament this time. One thing we will definitely see in this iteration is Karl Urban as Johnny Cage.

That’s right, everyone! Urban is loved by his fandom. I mean damn, people still want a sequel to the long gone one Judge Dredd. So it’s pretty exciting to hear that the star boys joins the cast as self-involved martial arts movie star Cage.

However Urban approaches, he will no doubt do his homework and wow us all in the role.

Synopsis for the first The deadly beat it went like this:

Hunted by the fearsome warrior Sub-Zero, MMA fighter Cole Young finds refuge at Lord Raiden’s temple. Training with seasoned fighters Liu Kang, Kung Lao, and rogue mercenary Kano, Cole prepares to stand alongside Earth’s greatest champions to face the enemies of Outworld in a high-stakes battle for the universe.

Jeremy Slater (Moon Knight) is set to write this entry in the franchise. We also expect to see a lot of the same characters return. There is no word on whether the main character who was created for the movie separate from the game will return. If you recall, he was a point of contention for a lot of internet talk.

Urban is a great choice for almost anything. It’s a one-size-fits-all fit for these types of roles. It will be great to see what kind of cocky personality he brings to the role.
