Welcome to Spotlight Play. Haunting of Chip Lake Lodge by J. Robert Wilkins is about a great story with fantastic characters. Plus great opportunities for technical elements – from set, lights, sound and supernatural.
Four high school seniors, Amy, Jennifer, Stephanie, and Justin, arrive at a country cabin for their prom. But things go wrong from the start. They show up at the wrong cabin, their car won’t start, the phone goes dead and disco music inexplicably plays. The cabin is haunted!
The teenagers are unwittingly drawn into a slightly deranged plot to free the spirit from the curse of Chip Lake. If Justin can overcome his fear of giant rats, they might save the day.
It all leads to a bizarre prom night that no one will forget!
Why did I publish this piece?
Haunting of Chip Lake Lodge it’s part mystery, part comedy, part supernatural, and it’s all good fun! One of my favorite genres on the Theatrefolk site is our Halloween plays. I love how our authors use theatrical conventions to bring scary stories to life. Chip Lake Lodge is not an exception. Add to that a great sense of humor, extremely fun characters to play and a great challenge for a teenage tech team – it all makes for a fabulous theatrical experience!
