Filming for Dungeons & Dragons movie begins as director shares first photo

Finally, the reboot of the Dungeons & Dragons movie began filming. This project has been going on for a very long time and seeks to atone for the sins of the previous attempt to put the beloved game into action. In this case, Paramount and eOne have lined up a star cast, led by Chris Pine (Star Trek, Wonder Woman 1984) to presumably make it a big budget franchise that will be more than just a forgotten one.

News that production is now underway has been revealed by the director Jonathan goldstein on Twitter. He runs the new Dungeons and dragons with his film partner and frequent collaborator John Francis Daley. The two had been set up to lead Warner Bros. ‘long-gestation The Flash movie. But once they left this project, they quickly moved on to this adaptation. And they managed to crack the code and get the train on the tracks in the right direction. Goldstein shared an image of the clapboard with the following caption in his tweet.

Plot details for the popular role-playing game adaptation are currently being kept under wraps. Aside from Chris Pine, the cast also includes Bridgerton Breakout Rege-Jean Page, who is looking to embark on a film career as he won’t be returning for the show’s second season on Netflix. Michelle Rodriguez (The fast and the furious), Smith J. (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom), Sophia Lillis and Hugh Grant complete the cast. It is said that Grant will play the villain of the film. Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, whose previous credits include Game night and Spider-Man: Homecoming, also wrote the screenplay.

Dungeons and dragons, as a game, has been around since 1974. But it has been published by Wizards of the Coast, which is owned by Hasbro, since 1997. Lately Hasbro has delved into its library of toys and games in an attempt to penetrate further into Hollywood . The company has taken a more active role in adapting its properties for the big and small screen, with several major projects under development. the Transformers the franchise has been hugely successful and the hope is that they can build on that same success with other IPs. Power Rangers MASK,Barbie and Monopoly are some of the other brands that Hasbro and eOne are currently working on turning into films.

A previous DnD film was released in 2000, directed by Oscar winner Jeremy Irons. It didn’t have much of an impact and was widely criticized by critics. A reboot has been going on, in various forms, for years now. It just took a long time for the right combination of factors to align for this to finally be done.
