John Woo’s Gorefest – Classic, “The Killer” is remade for Peacock

Two of the biggest, biggest and bloodiest shots they easily belonged to, John Woo’s genius The killer and Hard strong. These two films were fantastic action shows and both starred Chow Yun-Fat. Well, it looks like Woo is working on a remake of him The killer at Peacock.

A few years ago, Woo was to take over the remake, with Lupita Nyong’o taking over the role of Chow Yun-Fat. Unfortunately, the project fell apart and lagged behind. Now it looks like Woo will take over the streaming platform project.

Killer

The summary of the 1989 film The Killer was as follows:

Mafia killer Jeffrey (Chow Yun-Fat) is no ordinary gun; the best in his business, he sees the chosen profession as a calling rather than a simple job. So when beautiful nightclub singer Jennie (Sally Yeh) is blindfolded in the crossfire of her latest hit, Jeffrey chooses to retire after one last job to pay for the operation to restore the sight of his unintentional victim. But when Jeffrey is stuffed, he joins forces with a rogue cop (Danny Lee) to make things right.

Woo’s new interpretation The killer is set for 2023. There are no cast members attached yet, but we hope to find someone great. It’s exciting to think that the director is back in business. Slow-mo, gun-fu, action full of blood.

Another interesting thing that can lead to a revival of Woo’s popularity. Hopefully this will lead to his movies seeing Blu-ray and 4K releases. Criterion movies are currently only available on DVD. I hope this will bring him back to where he belongs and that we will get proper 4K remasters.

We will keep an eye on this project and let you know any details as we receive them.
