Kevin Smith celebrates Clerks II 15th anniversary as Clerks III kicks off pre-production

Kevin Smith celebrates the 15th anniversary of Clerk II just as pre-production officially begins on the upcoming sequel Clerk 3. Just recently, it was announced that Lionsgate had picked up the third installment of the franchise that launched Smith’s first career as a filmmaker in 1994. The sequel, Clerk II, hit theaters in 2006, featuring a mix of new and old characters.

Wednesday, Kevin smith tweeted a picture of a Clerk II poster in honor of the 15th anniversary. In the tweet, Smith writes: “Clerk II released 15 years ago today. It remains one of my favorite things that I have ever done, professionally or personally. @DarkNateReturns commemorate the occasion with this awesome poster! One week from Monday we start shooting CLERKS III – and the 7 tracks shown here all come back! “

The seven tracks to which Smith refers, seen on the Clerk II Poster are Brian O’Halloran as Dante Hicks, Jeff Anderson as Randal Graves, Rosario Dawson as Becky Scott, Trevor Fehrman as Elias Grover, Jason Mewes as Jay and, of course, Smith himself as Silent Bob. It is likely that we will see other characters who appeared in the first two. Clerk movies somehow appearing in Clerk III.

Meanwhile, Smith was back at the RST Video location to prepare for Clerk III when he found a strange discovery. As posted in another image on Twitter, the filmmaker located an old VHS with his handwriting on the label he left after Clerk launched his career as a director.

Sharing the same photo on Instagram, Smith added, “The kid who recorded this videotape has no idea where his love of movies, television, comics and pop culture would take him over the past 27 years. next few years I know I shouldn’t speak for this kid – but I do know him a little bit, and I think it’s fair to say that he didn’t see any of this coming.
