Robert Englund may have made it official when Freddy Kruger was done due to age, weight and a bad back. However, that wouldn’t stop him from producing a future film and assisting with the story. While talking to Variety about his upcoming documentary Hollywood Dreams & Nightmares: The Robert Englund StoryEnglund talked about how to bring Kruger into modern times.
In an age ruled by social media, it would be important for Freddy to use those channels. So what if he got a much bigger reach by tapping into someone’s followers? It would be entirely possible for Kruger to tap into an influencer on Elm Street and then punish everyone who followed that individual.
“You have to deal with the technology and the culture,” Englund said. “For example, if one of the girls was influence, it would be interesting for Freddy to somehow haunt her subconscious and manifest, maybe exploit everyone who followed her.”
It could be a start. Kruger’s participation in social media could be scary The black mirror sort of bringing the dream demon into the modern age. What do you think? Do you like Englund’s idea for Freddy? Let us know in the comments section.
