Oh-oh, some of you won’t like this. Spider-Man: The Animated Series has left Disney +. But don’t be afraid of Marvel fans as the show will be returning to the streaming service. Sadly, it’s just not clear when this will happen, or why the series was deleted in the first place. In any event, at this time, the fan favorite animated show cannot be viewed on the service.
Recently, the 1994 animated series disappeared from Disney +. Previously, Spider-Man: The Animated Series, otherwise known simply asSpider Man, was available to broadcast in its entirety on the service. Fortunately, this is not a permanent deletion. Twitter user Patty Bates took to Twitter to share an exchange she had with a Disney + customer service representative about the situation. The representative stated the following.
“Thank you for contacting us regarding Spider Man absent from the Disney + service. I fully understand your frustration here, but please know that we are aware of this issue and are actively working on a resolution. The good news is that Spider-Man (1994) will be returning to the service soon, but we don’t have specific dates to share just yet. I would suggest checking out the Disney + app at a later date. “
It was not revealed what led to the show’s deletion. It could have been a licensing issue. Maybe it was a technical problem. Either way, fans have been assured he will return. Bates insisted on further confirmation by asking, “So this is a known issue and will be added again?” The representative responded, assuring that this is the case.
“That’s correct! In the meantime, we certainly appreciate your patience and understanding as we get Spider-Man (1994) back on track.”
It appears to be, at worst, a temporary setback for fans of Marvel’s resident web head. Meanwhile, several other hero-centric animated shows are still available to stream on Disney +. The list includes the years 1981 Spider-Man, Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends, Spider-Man Unlimited, Ultimate Spider-Man and the current Spider Manseries, which debuted in 2017. Plus, Disney just made a huge deal with Sony. This will allow various Spider Man films to finally make it to Disney +. While it has still not been revealed which movies, in particular, will debut first, or when those initial titles will be available to stream.
Spider-Man: The Animated Series debuted in 1994, for five seasons until 1998. A total of 65 episodes aired. The show remains one of the character’s most beloved adaptations across all mediums. Christopher Daniel Barnes led the cast as Peter Parker. There has been a fair amount of demand to see the actor reprise his role in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2. Rumors have arisen suggesting that this could be the case, but nothing has been confirmed yet. It’s entirely possible that the studio is trying to keep Barnes’ involvement a secret. Although at this point it would be a poorly kept secret. You can consult the original poster of Patty Bates Twitter Account.
