Apparently Takashi Miike’s 6-part series, online it is a very unexpected surprise. By unexpected, I mean almost no one knew this was out. Even Miike fans are in total shock on social media. The typical response from those fans consists of “wait what?” or the most classic and to the point, “yooooo what?”.
This is for a largely understandable reason. Aside from a few horror stations releasing images earlier in the week, Miike’s online it was a secret, quiet release. I mean, it’s to the point where you have to go in and manually search for the title. That’s crazy considering he’s the director Audition and Ichi the killer.
Summary for Miike’s online breaks down like this:
“Connect” stars Jung Haein (“Snowdrop,” “Something in the Rain”) as Ha Dongsoo – a new immortal humanity called “Connect” kidnapped by a gang of organ harvesters who are determined to take his eyes . After suddenly waking up on an operating table following surgery, Dongsoo manages to escape without an eye, and later discovers that he can still see from his missing eye, which is now being used by a serial killer terrorizing the the inhabitants of the city. Seoul. Determined to get back what was taken from him, Dongsoo will track down the serial killer, taking whatever steps are necessary to make himself whole again.
This insanely gory clip is an amalgamation of classic Miike work, along with a crazy tentacle alien reminiscent of John Carpenter. The thing. Be sure to give that clip a look below.
online is based on a webtoon created by Shin Dae-sung and adapted by Miike.
