This is exciting news for fans of this series of games as possible The last of us part 3 he was just teased. In the latest documentary from Naughty Dog titled Grounded II: Making The Last Of Us Part II, Neil Druckmann provided an interesting quote and teaser at the end. He stated that “… it feels like there’s probably one more chapter to this story.” See more of what he had to say in the documentary below.
Neil Druckmann stated in the documentary “The great thing about working at Naughty Dog is that you don’t have to. “It’s always like, ‘we’d love another Last of Us, but if you feel like you’re passionate about something else, we’ll support this other thing.’ Very privileged position to be in, I never take that for granted. I just thought about it, “is there a concept there?” And for years, I couldn’t find that concept. But recently, that’s changed and I don’t have a story, but I have that concept that to me is as exciting as 1, as exciting as 2, it’s its own thing, and yet it has this direct line to all three. So it feels like there’s probably another chapter to this story.”
The Last of Us first came out in 2013 and became the biggest video game release at the time. The game sold over 1.3 million units and became the best-selling digital release in the PlayStation Store on the PlayStation 3, only to be beaten by Grand Theft Auto V later that year. With such a huge success, a sequel had to be developed and The Last of Us Part 2 was released in 2020. The sequel did even better selling over 2.8 million units in its first month alone. It went on to become one of the best-selling PlayStation exclusive releases of all time.
The games follow the story “A post-apocalyptic United States where survivors Joel and Ellie work together to survive their journey west through what’s left of the country to find a possible cure for the modern fungal plague that has nearly decimated the entire human race.“
This is big news for us fans of the series as it shows that they are interested in part 3 and that Neil Druckmann himself has stated that there is potential for it.
