July means that half of the year is over and boy, Netflix had one a great one. Stranger things happened.
But it’s not over yet, and the streamer has more up its sleeve in July in terms of fascinating content. In the remaining days he offers us some interesting stories and we chose some that caught our attention.
We present them here so you can plan the rest of July on hold, just like the rest of us.
Damn July 31st
Even though 2020 was awful for many people, there were some decent titles that came out that year to reassure the horror fan at home. Fucking is one of those titles and offers. With an interesting story and amazingly creepy images, The Wretched still holds up to the final act. If you haven’t had a chance to see this when it first appeared, watch Netlfix and let it do the magic.
A defiant teenager, who is struggling with the imminent divorce of his parents, is confronted by a thousand-year-old witch, who lives under the skin and pretending to be the woman next to him.
Keep breathing July 28th
At first, it looks like Yellowjackets, but then it sinks into Stephen King-type territory. Anyway, Keep breathing it looks like an adventure in terror and we have our figurative tickets. Of screams (2021) Melissa Barrera plays the role of a plane crash survivor who seems to be caught between reality and fantasy. The fantasy part could be more harmful than the elements, because her desire to survive decreases every hour.
When a small plane crashes in the middle of the Canadian wilderness, a lone survivor must fight the elements – and her personal demons – to stay alive.
Indian Predator: The Butcher of Delhi
Netflix has recently appeared for foreign directors. They are not afraid of subtitles, although they seem to like bad dubbing. This offer is based on real events and has several interviews in English. But what intrigues us the most is how one person can dismember so many people and still evade the authorities.
A city, a cold-blooded murderer and multiple horrific murders. Get ready for the most creepy and bloody story about real crimes you’ll ever see. Because this time, the evil is closer than you thought it would be.
School stories TBD series
As mentioned above, Netflix is growing at the level of their foreign horror movie game. Earlier this month, I received the awful movie I found Incantationand now we have another Taiwanese horror movie, School stories; this time it’s an anthology. It has all the characteristics of an Asian horror movie, with curses, classrooms and bad schools. But will we hold a grudge if it does not live up to our standards?
Each school has its own horror and mystery stories … the marching band stays at the school for the annual camp, and the members decide to “test” if some of their school’s ghost stories are true.
My Village People July 22nd
From East Asia to West Africa we receive a witch offer with The people of my village. No, it’s not an autobiography about a group of 70’s guys who are famous for a wedding dance, although that could make the list of the 6 Netflix titles we’re interested in. This is about a convent of witches who seem dissatisfied with a man who is courting two of them. Will that enchant us or lead us into the woods?
The weakness of a young woman puts him in trouble when he is caught in a bizarre love triangle with witches.
Bad Exorcist Wednesday, July 20th
An animated TV-MA series? Yes and thank you very much. This Polish series shows two parts The park in the south and two parts Beavis and Butthead. Apparently, this series is about an independent exorcist who is dirtier than the monsters he causes. Sounds like an ordinary Saturday to me!
No demon is safe, because Bogdan Boner, the self-taught exorcist who loves alcohol, returns with more inventive, obscene and deadly deeds.
So that’s it so far; the 6 Netflix titles that interest us to complete the month. Even if they are not as great as we would like, it is comforting to know that we are halfway to Halloween.
