The next slippery chapter in “Anaconda” may take a meta approach

Well, it looks like we’re about to get even more Anaconda soon. Jeff Sneider by The Hot Mic s video podcastbrought some very exciting news for big killer snake fans everywhere. And what’s not to love about these extremely cheesy yet action packed movies? Ever since Jennifer Lopez and Jon Voight faced off against each other, audiences have been clamoring for more.

According to Tom Gormican, the back writer The unbearable weight of massive talenteven Nicolas Cage’s meta takeover, he’s currently working on writing a reboot for Anaconda. Most interestingly, it looks like Gormican will bring some of that meta-sensibility to the slippery next chapter.

“Anaconda will be a meta-film. And from what I understand, it’s going to be something close to that…that’s not the actual logic…it’s going to involve an actor or actors playing loose fictional versions of themselves going off to make an “Anaconda” movie. All hell breaks loose.” Gormican said.

Of course, this is still very early in the process. Especially since Gormican is still writing the script and putting things together. Plus, who doesn’t love the real-life versions of the actors they play fighting snakes? Gormican has already worked with Cage… Just giving my vote there but why not have Cage come and play in the next one Anaconda movie?

Wes Craven did a fantastic job with his New nightmare. He was thinking years beyond the times he lived in, but that’s exactly the meta approach Craven took.

Anaconda

the 1997s Anaconda the synopsis was like this:

Filmmaker Terri Flores (Jennifer Lopez) travels deep into the Amazon jungle in search of a forgotten tribe. Terri and her team, which includes an anthropologist (Eric Stoltz) and a cameraman (Ice Cube), come across Paul (Jon Voight), who is stranded on the riverbank. He offers to help them find the tribe, but his secretive behavior puts them all in danger. They realize too late that he is using them to find a legendary anaconda worth a fortune – if they can catch it.

We are very excited about Gormican’s announcement and fully support this film becoming a feature film soon. I wonder if they could even bring back the original cast to play this way. Regardless of what they come up with, we’re already excited at the prospect of delving back into those dangerous, snake-infested waters.
